What is an Outsider? Someone who enjoys nature, knows the quickest route out of the city, falls asleep to the sound of waves? Or is it someone who refuses to fit into a pre-defined box, an iconoclast, a change-maker? For us, it's both. It's that duality and that play on meaning that is at the heart of what we design, how we design, and why we design.
With no formal training or fashion industry experience, Erik Prowell was the definition of an Outsider when he started Bridge & Burn. He didn't know the rules, so he did things his own way. He looked to his life in and outside the city and designed what he felt was missing in fashion - a straight forward jacket that looked great around town and could hold its own against the elements of the Pacific Northwest.
Six years later, we are taking that same "design for ourselves" attitude and applying it to a brand new collection of cold weather outerwear made from British Millerain waxed canvas paired with a really soft and warm insulating lining made of Polartec ThermalPro shearling fleece.
The result is the "Outsider Edition": A small limited edition collection of heavy duty outerwear, launched exclusively for Fall 2016, including something Erik always wanted to design - a cold weather parka for men (The Sitka) and women (The Sequoia).
Rounding out the Outsider Edition collection are mid-weight jackets, insulated vests, sweatshirts, hats and tees.

We want to challenge all of you to keep pushing the boundaries of what it means to be an "Outsider". Bridge & Burn has always had an independent streak - shirking off the pressure to define ourselves within one category or another. In that spirit, we are leaving our new Outsider logo up for interpretation. Help us define Outsider this fall by showing us, visually and in words, what being an "Outsider" means to you.
