I have always loved the idea of overalls, as a grown woman who sometimes likes dressing like an oversized toddler — but I've always struggled with, well, actually ending up looking like an oversized toddler (or teenager) because of how unflattering and waist-erasing overalls can be. Not these! These are the ticket to dressing as comfortably and cutely as a toddler but looking like an adult, with some late-'70s vibes.
I am not a person with a small waist, but these are super flattering on it as well as being really comfortable: nicely fitted at the waist but not uncomfortable when I sit, the way high-waisted jeans can be; wide legs that aren't clownish; big pockets; sturdy fabric that lends itself to clean lines and not looking rumpled. Also, the hardware is high-quality. (One minor quibble is that the shoulder buckles can be a little squeaky/creaky when you move. The first time I drove wearing them, the noise was driving me crazy, and I thought there was something wrong with my car. Nope, just my pants.)
I'm about 5'7", 130-135 pounds, reliably a size small in B&B and a size 27 in pants, and in these, both the 27s and 28s fit — the latter leaves more room at the waist to tuck in a bulky sweater, for instance.
The Roscoe overalls I received are high quality, comfortable, and have garnered me a lot of compliments in a variety of settings. They are definitely all that I thought they would be and more. Even better, I got them on sale, and I am so impressed by the value for money, and I foresee these overalls standing up to a lot and lasting a long time.
As for sizing, the Bridge & Burn website notes that these overalls run small and to size up, but I have to disagree personally. I am usually a 27 in many brands (though can sometimes squeeze into a 26) and originally ordered the 27s; however, this size was incredibly big on me to the point I could possibly have ordered down even as far as a 25. In the end, I played it safe and exchanged my 27s for size 26, which fit loosely but comfortably and allow room for a sweater underneath as it gets cooler outside. The size chart is very true to size, and I should have trusted it instead of thinking I needed to get my original size or even larger--just pick your sizing based on whatever your measurements truly are from the size guide, and you should be good!
I have to give a giant shoutout to B&B for allowing me to exchange my overalls for a smaller size despite my item being final sale at the time. The exchange process was easy, super respectful, and incredibly accommodating and kind. I'll definitely be buying more from B&B in the future because their customer service is as high quality as their clothing!
The sizing guide is a bit tricky but I find that to be the case with every online purchase I’ve done since every company varies. The reason for the 4 stars is because customer service wasn’t much help when I tried to contact them. Overalls are great quality, nice fit, and I love the color.
These have such a flattering fit—who knew overalls could be classy looking?
The color of the overalls I received have nothing of the orange terra cotta hue shown in the photos. They are dirt brown. The wide legs are also not flattering if you are petite. I ordered size 25; I am ~5'1"/100lbs and the waist shaping/fit is very nice, but the hems of the pants practically touch the ground (I was hoping since they were cropped and had a 25.5" inseam that they would be at most ankle-length, but alas). I took a risk with the sizing so that's on me, but the color is not as advertised and the legs could be a little less wide to accommodate those on the smaller side.
